PlugFest Spring 2025

O-RAN Global PlugFest Spring 2025

The i14y Lab and our consortium partners from Deutsche Telekom and EANTC are part of the O-RAN Global PlugFest Spring 2025. This collaborative testing has a focus on validating technical readiness and multi-vendor interoperability for Open RAN components, based on O-RAN Alliance specifications and customized TIP test plans.

The tests are designed to showcase cooperative, multi-vendor solutions by demonstrating jointly selected applications and building a variety of test scenarios using integrated equipment and services.

O-RAN Global PlugFest Spring 2025

For this edition, we will focus on two main testing scenarios:

  • RIC Scenario: Testing near-real-time RAN Intelligent Controllers (RICs), including xApps and rApps, to evaluate control loop behavior, KPIs, and integration with E2 nodes. The scenario will highlight interoperability and functionality in multi-vendor setups.
  • E2E Scenario: Full end-to-end (E2E) system integration testing, combining O-RU, O-DU, O-CU, and Core. This scenario will emphasize stability, performance, and end-user services across the entire Open RAN architecture.

The PlugFest starts with a Pre-Staging phase from April 22 to April 25, 2025, focused on technical preparations.

This will be followed by the Main PlugFest, taking place from April 28 to May 9, 2025, where the majority of technical testing will occur.

From May 12 to May 16, 2025, we will prepare the technical report and marketing deliverables.

Finally, results will be internally published within the O-RAN Alliance between May 19 and May 23, 2025.

The i14y Lab continues to provide a collaborative, vendor-neutral testing environment in coordination with key industry stakeholders.

Plugfests @ the i14y Lab

We regularly host plugfests at the i14y Lab and have done so from the very beginning. Here is an overview of all plugfests we were part of.
