Open RAN Certification and Badging

Certification and Badging

The i14y Lab in Berlin is your partner for Open RAN certification and badging.

For a certificate or badge for your OFH O-RU, O-DU, O-CU or RIC to matter, it needs to be issued by an independent, vendor-neutral third party. And one that has a proven track record of providing reliable results. Like the i14y Lab in Berlin.

Certification ensures that a product fully complies with O-RAN standards through rigorous testing by accredited labs. Badging signifies that a product has been tested for specific interoperability or performance standards in O-RAN-recognized testing centers (OTICs).

Certification and Badging

Certification and Badging at the i14y Lab - This is what we offer

O-RAN Certificate

To certify that your O-RU is compliant to O-RAN specifications, chose this option.

Tests include:

  • Support FR1 (TDD/FDD) radio downlink (DL) und uplink (UL) paths for CU Plane.
  • M-Plane and S-Plane Conformance testing, including performance.
  • Monitor and analyze traffic over FH interface

Our team will guide you through the process and execute the tests, and you will benefit from our standardized and automated test setups. A full test report will be issued after the tests.

After successfully passing the tests, your product will be awarded the O-RAN Alliance Certificate.

Prices for any additional engineering or consulting support are available on request, if for example you wish to discuss the results in more detail with our team.

O-RAN End-to-End (E2E) Badge

To validate that an end-to-end system or as subsystem in an end-to-end meets the requirements on functionality and security of the O-RAN Alliance specification, chose this option.

The tests include

  • Functional E2E integrated testing, including Mobility and Handover
  • Performance testing for KPIs.
  • gNB Security Assurance Specification (SCAS) required by 3GPP SA3
  • Load and stress testing as defined by the TIFG.

Our team will guide you through the process and execute the tests, and you will benefit from our standardized and automated test setups. A full test report will be issued after the tests.

Integration efforts and troubleshooting during the tests may incur additional costs.

It was a proud moment for us to get the O-RAN certificate of conformance at the i14y Labs. They helped us a lot in defying the test cases and the parameters, resulting in a much faster certification.

"With Rimedo Labs being an i14y Lab associated partner, we are excited to evolve our software solutions and concepts to focus on the industry needs and contribute to the O-RAN market."

"In general, this is the next step. Before it was non-standalone, which means everything was driven by 4G core. And now we are going towards standalone deployment with the introduction of the new Spirent 5G core. The setup as such was successful. There is some tuning required, but with this configuration we will be open for 3rd App deployment, which is mainly focusing on 5G standalone infrastructure."
Peter Muschiol
Senior Network Planning Engineer, Nokia
