DU: What does it mean?

 

DU stands for Distributed Unit. It is a component of the 5G mobile communications standard that provides the radio processing and control functions for the component of the 5G radio access network. The DU provides support for the lower layers of the 5G communication protocol stack, such as the Radio Link Control (RLC), Medium Access Control (MAC), and Physical Layer. The DU is designed to provide a scalable and flexible solution for the increasing demand for mobile broadband services, and is an important component of the 5G network architecture.
