O-RAN badges awarded to Radisys and SRS at the i14y Lab

During the i14y Lab Summit on Sept. 11, 2025, we had the opportunity to hand over two O-RAN End-to-End (E2E) Badges issued by the i14y Lab. Radisys was awarded one for their Radisys 5G SA RAN Software, while SRS Software Radio Systems Ltd. was awarded the badge for their srsRAN Enterprise 5G CU/DU.

In a surprise appearance on stage during the i14y Lab Summit 2025, the i14y Lab presented Radisys and SRS with an O-RAN End-to-End (E2E) Badge. “This shows, that things are going in the right direction, step by step,” Consortium Lead Andreas Gladisch noted on the occasion.

Radisys 5G SA RAN Software

To Radisys, securing this certification was a natural next step in demonstrating that their RAN solutions meet global benchmarks for openness and interoperability. “This effort reflects our shared drive to validate Radisys technology in a way that directly supports our operator partners’ needs. As a bonus, certification not only builds confidence in both key functional aspects and critical non-functional requirements—including performance, security, operability, and stability—but also accelerates time to market. It further enhances visibility for participating operators into our 5G SA multi-vendor, carrier-grade, end-to-end solution,” says Munish Chhabra, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobility at Radisys,

Radisys added that achieving the End-to-End technical certification demonstrates that Radisys’ RAN software is fully aligned with O-RAN standards and is interoperable with solutions from multiple vendors. This is an important validation for service providers, as it provides confidence in deploying truly open and flexible RAN networks.

The collaboration with the i14y Lab team, Radisys added, was extremely positive: “It was a highly collaborative, hands-on partnership, and we appreciated the openness, transparency, and technical depth throughout the process,” they stated.

srsRAN Enterprise 5G CU/DU

The srsRAN Enterprise 5G CU/DU is a fully virtualized O-RAN-native CU/DU solution that can be stood up on any white-box hardware.

The main motivation to seek certification was “to demonstrate that our CU/DU products adhere to the 3GPP/O-RAN specification and comply with the O-RAN E2E test suite, including the 3GPP security requirements,” SRS’ Andre Puschmann told us. “The certification,” he added, “provides a certain degree of trust in the product and allows potential customers to guide their vendor selection process.”

The i14y Lab has issued an O-RAN Alliance E2E Badge to the srsRAN Enterprise 5G CU/DU confirming the functionality required by the Test & Integration Focus Group’s (TIFG) End-to-End test specification. SRS has passed all required functional and security tests, confirming the readiness for multi-vendor integration of the O-DU/O-CU product. The various mobility scenarios have been evaluated with SRS’ commercial software version.

In a global first, an O-RAN Alliance badge has been issued using fully automated testing with the O-RAN Alliance E2E Badge to the srsRAN Enterprise 5G CU/DU. The i14y Lab’s consortium partner, EANTC AG, provided its open-source-based test orchestration software created in the i14y Lab project over several years. The test orchestrator interfaces with test tools and auxiliary systems from multiple vendors.
