EPC

EPC: What does it mean?

EPC (Evolved Packet Core) is the core network of the LTE (Long-Term Evolution) mobile communications standard. It is responsible for managing communication between the LTE radio access network (RAN) and other networks such as the Internet or other mobile networks. The EPC performs tasks such as user authentication, radio resource management, mobility management, and quality of service (QoS) management. It is designed to provide a scalable and flexible solution for the growing demand for mobile broadband services and operates as a logical node that hosts the CN functionalities for the EPS.
