E-UTRAN

E-UTRAN: What does it mean?

E-UTRAN (Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network) is a new radio interface specified by the 3GPP consortium that was introduced in 2008 with LTE. It is designed to provide the radio access network for the LTE mobile communications standard and serves as the radio interface between a mobile device and the core network, allowing communication with the wider network (such as the Internet or other mobile networks) while also meeting the ever-increasing data transfer rates and reducing radio operation latency.
