Viavi Solutions joins i14y Lab as Associated Partner

 

Madrid, Oct 11 2023 - i14y Lab is on a mission to accelerate time to market for multi-vendor disaggregated telco systems and therefore we are excited to announce VIAVI as our latest addition to the i14y Lab cohort of Associated Partners.

 

VIAVI commits to a long-term cooperation with i14y Lab to introduce new technologies and facilitate the development of emerging concepts as they relate to the principles and goals of i14y. For instance, the application of digital twin and how it can be brought together in deployed networks will be an area of focus. In particular, the collaboration is about to explore how a digital twin model can sophisticatedly be integrated to further a robust certification regime and enable trusted blueprints for open RAN.

VIAVI embraces the agility needed in telco operations  and is therefore open to collaborate in other areas of interest with i14y.Support will include these five key areas :

 

1: Take part in Plugfest event series:

 

  • General support for test planning activities
  • FoC SW licenses for VIAVI equipment on top of existing base installations during the Plugfest
  • Timeline coordination for pre-validation, testing, troubleshooting and presentation of results

 

 

2:  Research, development and testing collaboration in:

 

  • ORAN testing & verification
    • RIC (Radio intelligent controller)
    • O-RU
    • O-DU (including wraparound bracket testing)
    • O-CU (including wraparound bracket testing)
    • O-DU + O-CU (including wraparound bracket testing)
    • Packet Core Testing & Emulation
    • Cyber security testing
    • E2E verification

    • Conformance
    • Functionality
    • Interworking
    • Scalability
    • Performance
    • Quality
    • Automation

 

Collaboration on RIC and App validation with VIAVI TeraVM RIC Test

  • With third party x-App and r-App providers for app integration
  • Test scenario verification
  • Support forRIC development
  • Performance test scenarios for different O-RAN ALLIANCE and TIPuse cases.

 

3: Strategic positioning, transfer, and international coordination:

 

  • Participation in regular meetings with the Consortium Partners
  • Contribution of experience from similar projects, data collections, etc.

 

4: Badging “Controlled environment (Silver)” for TIP test cases:

 

  • Support on test plan contribution
  • Support on test case execution
  • Support on analysis and trouble shooting

 

  1. Upskilling and technical training for existing VIAVI Equipment within consortium:

 

  • To enable consortium members effective usage of VIAVI Equipment, we will provide FoC training for the equipment.
